16. DESIGN OF A BIAS-WEAVING MACHINE
A machine for producing bias weaves (thick, multiaxial
weaves) is presented. It consists of a fill/warp weaving apparatus superimposed
on a general braiding machine. The braiding machine consists of a set of
moveable columns which hold spools of bias fibers, and a mechanism to shift
spools from one column to the next.

32. INVESTIGATION OF JP-8 AUTOIGNITION UNDER VITIATED COMBUSTION CONDITIONS
Limited data on jet fuel ignition and oxidation at low-O2, vitiated conditions has hindered the validation of kinetic models for combustion under such conditions. In this study, ignition delay time experiments of JP-8 have been performed withvitiated air at low pressures. Initially, the effects of temperature, equivalence ratio, and mole fractions of vitiated components on JP-8 ignition at 1 atm were screened to discover that temperature, O2 and NO have the largest significance.
33. INVESTIGATION OF MATERIALS FOR USE IN EXHAUST GAS
EGR (Exhaust Gas Recirculation) is a method for reducing NOx emissions for heavy-duty diesel engines. EGR works by introducing part of the exhaust gases back to the engine cylinders. Exhaust gases consists mainly of CO2, NOx , SO2 and H2O. As the temperature decreases, these gases form a corrosive condensate.

This dissertation presents the development of a microfabricated turbopump capable of delivering fuel with the flow rates and pressures required for portable power generation. The device is composed of a spiral-groove viscous pump that is driven by a radial in-flow air turbine and supported using a novel encapsulated microball bearing.

A nuclear power plant is a very complex dynamic system with a lot of built in regulators and security systems that make it almost impossible to know by reasoning, exactly how the system dynamics is going to react due to e.g. plant modifications, transients or operator behaviors. A common way to find out is to build a computer model and simulate the system.
43. MULTI-ACTUATOR SWITCH MODE HYDRAULIC SYSTEM
Current hydraulic systems involving multiple actuators and a single hydraulic power supply generally have poor efficiency. Using throttling valves to control multiple actuators requires meeting the highest pressure requirement and the total flow of all of actuators. When there is a large difference in the pressure requirement of the actuators, fluid throttling results in significant energy losses.

46. OPTIMIZATION OF MAPUTO POWER PLANT
The Electricidade de Moçambique, E.P. (EDM) is the power utility in Mozambique, responsible
to generate, transport and distribute electricity all over the country. The company has three gas
turbines installed at Maputo Power Plant. All units burn diesel oil and are used only for back up.
Currently only the unit #2 is available for operation.
47. PERFORMANCE EVALUATION OF A SOLAR COOLING SYSTEM

The thesis is a preliminary mission analysis and design of a small satellite swarm. 51. REPLACEMENT OF AN ELECTRICAL HEATING SYSTEM
The first part of this thesis contains the energy balance for the different kinds of flats to
see how much energy they consume for heating and hot tap water. To get theses values
we have to analyse the total energy flow into one flat and compare it with the energy

54. SIMULATION AND MODAL ANALYSIS OF INSTABILITY AND TRANSITION IN A STEADY ECCENTRIC STENOTIC FLOW
Direct numerical simulation (DNS) of steady ow, with Re = 750 at inlet,through stenosed pipe has been done to study transition and turbulence of theow in the post-stenosis area. The pipe has 75% constriction by area reduction and 5% eccentricity of the main pipe diameter at the throat. A sinusoidal Gaussian force is implemented to keep turbulent in the domain.
55. SIMULATION OF THERMAL STRESSES IN A DISC BRAKE
The heat flux produced from the friction between a disc and pad system leads to a high temperature which causes thermal stresses in the disc and after a number of repeated braking cycles, cracks might be initiated. The finite element analysis (FEA) is performed to determine the temperatures profile in the disc and to analyze the stresses for the repeated braking, which could be used to calculate the
fatigue life of a disc.
